Environmental problems have been more apparent over the years and they have caused countless of death due to natural disasters and calamities. As a student, I am aware of these and I attempted to offer these solutions to minimize environmental problems.
The following are two solutions an individual can undertake to contribute to solving these problems.
Firstly, campaigning might work. This is a great method to raise awareness. However, it requires an incredible amount of effort to be remotely effective. Moreso, it requires a lot of people supporting it to affect the general public. Additionally, if done wrong, campaigning might instead produce a negative image towards the intention. Furthermore, campaigning would not solve all environmental problems – it only raises awareness.
Secondly, using energy might also be effective. While equipment that can produce energy from a renewable source is expensive, using it can produce major effects. Solar panels, for example, can keep more coal buried underground. Currently, the main sources of energy are fossil fuels, such as this coal. Not only are these fuels non-renewable, which means that they will run out, they also produce pollution which increases global warming and produces health risks. Renewable resources – such as solar, wind, and water energy – would fix many of these global warming issues. Not only do renewables never run out, but they also do not cause so much pollution nor so many health risks. In fact, many countries are starting to encourage renewable energy resources, which will likely mean that solar panels will likely decrease in price going forward.
Overall, I believe that using renewables offers a bigger contribution. Unless an individual is Greta Thunberg, campaigning has little effect.
